Professor Lee is a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2005) (CAS) and a Fellow of the Third World Academy of Sciences (2006). His expertise includes nanomaterials and nanotechnology, organic electronics, diamond and super-hard coatings. He has filed 20 US patents and published over 760 papers in the internationally referred journals including Science and Nature. Professor Lee is the Director of Center Of Super-Diamond and Advanced Films (COSDAF), Director of Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM), Soochow University, Suzhou, and Director of Nano-organic Photoelectronic Laboratory, Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS, Beijing. He is the Associate Editor of Applied Physics Letters and Diamond and Related Materials. He received the Humboldt Senior Research Award (2001), Croucher Senior Research Fellowship of the Croucher Foundation (2002), two State Natural Science Awards (second prize) in 2002 and 2005 respectively, Lee Hsun Lecture Award (2006) of Institute of Metals-CAS, Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation (2008), and Hans Fisher Senior Fellowship of Institute for Advanced Study Technische Universitat Munchen, Germany (2009).
